Well done to Susan and her team who helped at the Ladies Time Trial on the 11th August 2016. We had 121 ladies cross the line at the finish. The whole event was a huge success. The weather also played along and we had a dry warmish evening.
Also thanks to the marshals who helped along the way.
A big thank you to Hillcrest Athletic Club for allowing Highway Athletic Club to use their facilities. This is greatly appreciated.
Then to the sponsors on the night. Meumann White for the T Shirts which each lady got and to Aquelle for the Flavoured Spring water which is always welcome after a run or walk.
To the ladies who supplied the prizes for the lucky draws a big thank you as well.
The next time trial will be hosted Kearsney Striders on the 5th September. Remember ladies the more who participate the more points we score. So let’s show up in force. It was good to see a number of new faces at the Time Trial.
The next big event on the Highway Club’s agenda is the AGM which will take place on the 22nd October 2016. Time and venue will be notified later.
Just remember as the days are warming up to hydrate a lot more frequently on your walks and runs. Because it is cooler in the mornings we tend to forget to drink and keep hydrated.
Regards Brian Stewart

Message below from “Octogenarian Ray”:
Please will you convey my thanks and appreciation to all the Club members who contributed to my birthday gift and for attending the Champagne Breakfast on Saturday.
I really did enjoy the breakfast and the fellowship that we have in the Club.

Message below from Susan Young, our Ladies TT Co-ordinator:
Thank you to everyone on the committee for your help and to our club members who all did their share.
I am happy and grateful to say that everyone who offered their help all showed up and did their parts which made the evening a success.
The T-shirts and Aquella were a big hit and a surprise to all the ladies as no other club has done anything like that so thanks very much to Ant, Dave and Brian for organising them.
And to top it off for the first time this year Highway A beat PDAC A and we had two teams in the top three!
Well done everyone!

Notice from the Toti AC website regarding the popular Goss & Balfe Sapphire Coast Marathon
This year’s marathon and half marathon which takes place on the 16th October will be run/walked from Hutchison Park. Unfortunately there will be NO FREE TRAIN RIDE this year due to the recent floods in Amanzimtoti that has washed our railway line away in several places. Metro rail have informed us the repairs will take 2-3 months, however should it be repaired prior to the race we will include the free train ride to the start.
